🛂 Passport

Cost: $130 (standard), $190 (expedited) + $35 application fee

Processing Time: Standard (8-12 weeks), Expedited (5-7 weeks), or Urgent (2-3 weeks, additional cost)

*NOTE processing times may be longer than usual, don't take a chance, apply right away!

🛃 ETIAS Authorization (Required for Entry into Italy)

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) is a travel authorization requirement for visitors from visa-exempt countries, including the U.S., traveling to most European countries in the Schengen Zone. It is not a visa but a pre-travel screening system designed to enhance security.

Cost: ~€7 ($8)

Processing Time: Typically within minutes, but apply at least 72 hours before departure

✈️ Flights to Italy

Estimated Cost: $600 - $1,500 (round trip, per person, depending on departure city & airline)

Best Time to Book: 4-6 months in advance for better prices.

TIP TIME!

If you are making a trip out of this, consider checking flights to other airports! For example, we know a couple who flew into Nice, France, and traveled via train (very doable in Italy/Europe!). Their plane ticket was much more affordable and they stopped at many charming stops on their way down through Italy!)

🚕 Transportation from Airport to Venue

Private Car/Taxi: arrange or ask for price (in some cases we can arrange through the venue)

Rental Car: ~€40-€80 ($45-$90) per day + gas (€1.90/L or ~$7.20/gallon)

Train & Taxi Combo: ~€20-€50 ($22-$55) per person

🚗 International Driving Permit (If Renting a Car)

Cost: $20 from AAA

Processing Time: Same day if done in person, 2-3 weeks by mail

These are all GENERAL prices for estimates. If you need any help, reach out to Hannah! The venue can assist with many accommodations and suggestions for drivers, and some guests will be traveling in groups. It is advised that you rent a car, which you can reserve to pick up at the airport. The Rome airport in a little over an hour away from our venue!

🏨 Where to Stay

With us, at the Abbey (limited space): Cost TBD, but will share ASAP

Hotel/Airbnb Costs: €100-€300 ($110-$330) per night

We will share a list of lodging close by recommended by our hosting venue. It will be posted on another page on our website, accommodations (coming soon!).

💶 Currency & Payments

Italy uses the Euro (€)

Currency Exchange Fee: ~3% (if using U.S. credit/debit cards internationally)

ATM Withdrawals: Local fees apply (~€3-€5 per transaction)

TIP TIME!

You will need to contact your credit and debit cards and let them know your dates of travel. Also, be sure to ask if there are foreign transaction fees (I know, for example, my Discover credit card does not have foreign transaction fees. I will use it a lot on this trip!).

On September 10th, we’ll be coordinating a few special experiences for our guests who would like to join! These activities are completely optional, and guests will be responsible for the cost of participation. More details coming soon!
